MY amazing Sister Allison

Created by Terri 6 years ago
first met Allison when she was a slip of a lass (she was 18 and newly joined the WRAF) I arrived at RAF North Luffenenham, Allison appeared in the doorway and Said Hi im Allison, Terri I replied," now that we have the formalities out of the way you will need a hand with your stuff". she said in her soft Geordie accent. Aye that would be grand, much to ma amusement Alli,s reply was " Well we don't want your stuff making the road look untidy" I began chatting ten to the dozen while Alli listened this would become our norm, unpacking complete and brew drank Alli, looked and me and said "Terri do you know what!!!" "I like you and you will be my best friend" I hugged her and she whispered" and we will be sisters as i don,t have one of them".not long after this Alli found me ironing ma uniform and she straight faced looked at me and said Terri I have an allergy, Oh gosh what is up came my reply I am allergic to ironing, and a big smile lit her face and we both laughed im sure she she retold this story to other friends with the same serous face just to see their reaction. Throughout the intervening time I have had the privilege to witness and be involved in some of Allison's pivotal moments, the one that always come to mind Allison and I always made time for each other when not on shift normally in a lovely restaurant off base in downtown Berlin and normally it involving eating, drinking and me doing most of the chatting and this time was no different, but with one exception and funny enough it was Alli she had that managed to get a word in for a change, and following on from our conversion a week or so later a very nervous but excited Graham came to see me at the medical centre in Berlin, with Urine sample in hand (in a tablet bottle i may add) that said sample was the the witness of life changing even,t the test was done and after the waiting time was up Graham was ecstatic and jumping for joy and suddenly when we were both in mid air we looked at each other and simultaneously said Who is going to tell Allison!! this momentous occasion resulted in later in the yr with the birth of Andrew and the start of their amazing family which I have always been part of. there are so many more memories of the wonderful times that I and later Pete my husband of 25 yrs we have shared with not only this talented amazing lady that called me her sister from day one but to have the privilege to be part of such a wonderful family and we will continue to make more memories to share with Allison when we meet again Always with us and thank you for enriching our lives.
